Upper:

In this GTX version of the shoe, you get a Gore-Tex membrane in the upper. Gore-Tex is known as one of the best materials on the market when you're looking for a breathable but also waterproof upper.

Midsole:

The most noticeable change is that the midsole has been raised by 3 mm, and the foam has become slightly softer and more sponge-like than before. This has been achieved without making the shoe heavier, which is a significant plus. The midsole consists of supportive and, above all, cushioning EVA foam throughout the shoe's length, providing a comfortable running feel. Additionally, Hoka's well-known Meta-Rocker technology contributes to giving the shoe a rounded sole shape that supports foot roll and helps propel you forward. Furthermore, Hoka's Active Foot Frame ensures that your foot is embraced, providing excellent support during your run. This is because your heel and foot actually sit within the midsole instead of on top of it, a result of the design technique in the Active Foot Frame.

Outsole:

On the outer side of the Clifton 9, Hoka has placed a durable "High-abrasion rubber," which is a rubber material that offers a good grip and contributes to durability. You'll find most of this rubber in the middle of the foot and less of it toward the front of the foot, providing flexibility in the right places.
